The best inexpensive HD digital camera available is the camera which has all the features you want at a price you can afford. Any camera that has more than 6 megapixels shoots HD photos. More megapixels will 1.) improve quality to some degree and 2.) allow you to make larger prints (8X10). My best suggestion would be a Nikon for around $ 399.99. I do not recall the model number. It is 10 megapixels and has has an 18X Optical Zoom. Ignore digital (pretend) zoom. Shooting when into the digital zoom range will result in loss of picture quality and your prints will be grainy and out of focus. Digital SLR's will give you the very best pictures. The Canon Rebel XT or XTi is about $ 699.99. Digital SLR's can cost as much as $ 3000.00 the lense may be extra.
