Will camera phones ever be as good as digital cameras?right now a good camera phone has 2 mp and a good digital camera has 7+ mp. first do you think a 2 mp is comparable to a 7 mp camera (will i be satisfied with a 2 mp alone) and do you think in the near future camera phones will have closer quality to digital cameras

yes. i have a cell phone with an EXTREMELY good camera on it. i acually take it to places where cameras arent allowed, and because it is a cell phone i can take it, and i take good picture with flash and everything.

It's more than just about megapixels- consider flash, lens quality, autofocus capability, modes, white balance and so much more. No cell phone camera can compete with all but the cheapest digital compact out there today. In the future? Who knows, but as cameras become more capable, it is hard to see how an all-in-one device can ever rival the quality of a stand alone camera.
