What is the fastest Digital SLR Camera?I want to get fast digital camera because I am using it for sports and action shots. I need the pics to be clear and crisp with a fast shutter speed enabling me to catch the action. I will also need to be able to zoom so if that matters at all. One more thing, I don't want the $ 8,000 camera, I am looking for one around $ 500-$ 800 dollars.

Hey there.
Okay, so you're looking for a dSLR then huh? Well, they can change lenses, so that's good for sports and action.
Generally though, DSLR's will start off with 3 fps. I'm talking about the beginner ones.
The most fps you can get within your price range would be 3.5, and that would be coming from the Canon Rebel XSi (12.2 MP), which costs around 700$ . However, i have a sony A300 ( 10 MP) which shoots at 3 fps that costs around 500-600 (lens included).
You should check out the Nikon D40(6 MP), D60(10 MP) or the Canon Rebel XSi, even the Sony A200 (less expensive than the a300, but nearly exactly the same...it just doesn't have live view.
Edit: If you're planning to get that canon XSi (because it has 3.5 FPS) here are some zoom lens recommendations.
Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS. The good thing about this lens is that it is cheap, and it also has IS (Image Stabilization). Image stabilization will be REALLY useful when taking pictures at high zoom, because it is really easy to make it blurry. This lens costs 251.99$ at Amazon.com
Or, here an even cheaper one. It costs 124.99$ on Amazon.com. It is the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro, and it has a greater range than the 55-200. Although it doesnt have IS, it has macro. So if you want to take some pretty good macro shots, you can use this. Don't worry, Sigma is a well recognized brand for lenses, and they are almost or as good as Canon ones.
ANOTHER EDIT: The canon XSi has dropped in price on Amazon! It went from 679.99 to 639.90!! And it comes with an 18-55 IS lens!
If you bought this camera (640) + the 70-300 lens (125) your total would be 765! That's an amazing deal! The price dropped only about yesterday, because 3 days ago it was 680 dollars. Amazing deal, so go for it!
Or...if you want to skip the DSLR's you can go to this extremely fast camera by casio, the EX-F1. I'm not sure if its out yet, but it does 60 frames a second! YUP! 60! and it has high speed video recording of up to 1200 fps. It costs about $ 999 though. It has 6 MP.
Good luck.

Canon Rebel XSi is fastest cameras for that price range. It can shoot up to 3.5 frames per second

or get Nikon D80 contineous shooting at 3 frame per second 11-area AF system http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HGIWN4?ie=UTF8&tag=computer0bd-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000HGIWN4

As the others said the Canon Rebels or the Nikon D40 or D60 will be good choices. However shooting sports requires fast shutter speeds. At least 1/250th of a second. Preferably 1/500th in order to freeze action. These cameras shutter speed goes up to 1/4000 of a second so this is not a problem. Where your problems will lie is with the lens you use. In order to get the fast shutter speeds that you will need you need a large aperture lens. Aperture is is the size of the hole in the lens that lets light in. The larger the aperture the more light comes in and the faster your shutter speed will be. For outdoor sports on a bright sunny day you will have no problems with a relatively inexpensive and small aperture telephoto lens. Lenses like the 55-200 or 70-300 F4-5.6 cost between $ 200 and $ 600 depending on the model and will be good choices. If you are shooting indoor events or nite events you will need a lens with an aperture of F2.8 in order to achieve the shutter speeds you will need to freeze action. These can be very expensive. A 70-200 F2.8 will run you around $ 1,700.
