Need a good digital camera for general photo taking.?I'm moving to another country in a couple months and I need to buy a digital camera so I can take pictures to send back to my family.
I don't have a lot to spend, but I'd like something decent. I'll only be taking general indoor and outdoor photos, I'm not a photographer so I don't need anything too special.
Does anyone have any recommendations of a good camera (2 to 4 MP) that's not too expensive, is easy to carry around, and doesn't break easily?

My Kodak C330 works great for me. It's a couple years old now, so I'm sure you can buy a new one from a camera website for pretty cheap, or a used/ referbished one.

no you dont need a lot of MP's
The general rule of thum is like this. when picking out a camera decide what the biggest size you are going to blow the picture up to and then divide the biggest number in half and that is the amount of Mp's you will need
Example: You are going to only print 4x6 prints divide the 6 in half and you get 3 so you would need at least a 3 mp's camera. 8x10 would be a 5 mp min.
but MP's are only part of the story when getting good photos. The sensor quality and glass of the lens makes a difference too.
with that said digital point and shoots are so cheap now yo shouldnt be concearned. You can but a nilon coolpix for a little bit over 100.00 and it is a 7mp camera.
Things you need to look at is optical zoom which alows you to zoom in on your subject dont pay attention to digital zoom it is worthless.
I bought a coolpix for my mom becuase she didnt want anything to complicated. It takes decent photos and it is slim and fits in her purse. when off the lens retracts into the camera and is covered so it is hard to damage.
There are tons of cameras out there but this one is cheap, good and a brand name so you know you are getting good quality camera. It will do everything you need

anything with a leica lens and high mega pixles should be a good camera and take great pictures... brands like cannon, nikon and samsung are good too.
