Are there any digital cameras that do not require you to load camera specific software?I would like to be able to download my pictures to any computer, but I figure with most cameras you have to install their software first. Is there generic camera download software available that I can carry with me on a memory stick, or even a camera that uses resident software on a PC to attach and download?

my camera is Sony cybershot and i didn't download it's software..

There is no need for specific software if you use Win XP and connect via USB. The camera flash mounts as a removable drive. You can copy pics from/to the flash card.

I've never installed any of the software that came with my many cameras. I always used a USB memory card reader to download photos to my computer.
