What are other gadgets needed for a beginner user in Digital SLR?I just bought a Digital SLR camera and would like to know what are other gadgets needed to help take care of my camera & improve my photography.

gadget-wise, nothing really but maybe a set of a sturdy tripod when you need to shoot in a very low lighting condition (slow shutter) and an easy to carry and ready-to-to bag to protect your DSLR when not in use. The rest is just practice to achieve improvement.

Other accessories you'll need:
- Use the provided neck strap to avoid droppage
- Get a case to protect the camera
- Always carry a spare memory card (get a memory card mini disc drive reader for pic offload to computer)
- Always carry a spare charged battery
- Get a lens cap tether or leash (that attaches to your lens cap and your camera so it doesn't get lost and you don't have to hang on to it while shooting)
- Get a wireless remote to activate your shutter w/out touching the camera
- Get a tripod or monopod to stabilize your camera in low light and long exposure situations (or to line up shots for panoramas)
- If you're mostly shooting portraits - get an external flash
- If you're shooting a lot of landscapes - get a wide angle lens
- If you're shooting sports, nature/wildlife (things at a distance) get a good telephoto zoom lens
- Consider a circular polarizer (to brighten blue skies and reduce glare) or a neutral density filter (to selectively darken parts of your scene)
- Get a good S/W program for editing your photos - Photoshop Elements or full Photoshop are the benchmarks.
No one said photography was an inexpensive hobby! Good luck.

Filters - primarily a UV and polarizing filter. The UV filter primarily to protect your very expensive lens. The polarizing filter to help make the sky bluer, cut reflection, make colors sharper.
Strobe flash - I suggest one that is paired to your particular camera. I.e. if you have a Canon SLR, get the Canon flash. The camera and the strobe exchange information to control flash intensity, shutter speed, aperture when taking a picture.
Camera bag - plan of trying many of these until you find the one that works best for you.
More lens. A telephoto or zoom lens (300mm) is invaluable, but also expensive.
Be sure everything you get (accept the bag) is designed specifically for a digital SLR. Some DSLRs, Nikon/Canon, can support lens from their film cousins, those lens while seemingly a better value don't perform as well as ones designed to be used on a DSLR. This is true of filters too.
