What kind of Polarizer filter should i buy - SONY (MAVICA)MVC-FD92?My wife has a SONY (MAVICA) MVC-FD92 digital camera that her parents purchased for her several years ago (It was top of the line or close when origionally purchased). Recently we wanted to purchase a Polarizing filter for this camera only to find that the one made by SONY (VF-37PKS) was discontinued.
Does anyone know of another filter that would fit this camera?

Would something like a Quantaray , SunPak, Tiffen, or Hoya filter work?

Hi ! Quite seriously, you may be better off opting for a new camera as this model is very outdated. If you are sentimentally attached to the camera and still want the filter, why not try loking on Ebay ...?

Go to a camera or video store and purchase a 37mm circular polarizing filter. Circular polarizers are needed for video cameras and autofocus camera lenses as linear polarizing filters (where the direction of polarization can be adjusted) interfere with the autofocusing features of the cameras. The 37mm thread is standard. You can probably even find one on E-Bay. Good brands that I could recommend include Hoya and Cokin but really any one should be sufficient as long as it is a circular polarizing filter (most modern ones are these days).

B+W make very high quality filters, although for the resolution of your camera, perhaps this is too much. This is cheaper although the quality difference would probably not be noticable
