Best Digital Camera? Tips?My name is Maddi and I am interested in photography. I am 20 years old and I have taken photography classes but I couldn't deal with the Dark Room. So due to my phobia of the dark and closed spaces I have chosen digital. I was wondering if you had any suggestions for cameras. I cannot spend too much money for I am a college student. I am learning to become a veterinary technician. I make about $ 500 a month but my room and board is free. I would appreciate any tips and information you could give me.

Well, the first question is what 35 mm SLR did you use?
The best choice of DSLR would be one that matches the lenses your current 35 mm camera uses.

You can get a Canon EOS Rebel XS with a decent lens for $ 500 (I'm sure there is also a comparable Nikon camera for around the same price). I would definitely stick with some variety of DSLR. The Rebel is a good platform to start out on, and it is perfectly capable of creating professional quality (not size) photos.

If you don't want a big DSLR then I suggest the tiny Sony Cybershot DSC-H20...its quite good =]
