Which camera would you choose?

Hi,I did the following:

Which camera would you choose?Nikon D3000 or Canon EOS 1000D / Digital Rebel XS

They are just about the same price. Which would would you choose? Why?

*I am a beginner photographer, and would just like to take pictures with fast shutter speeds, manual focus, good zoom, and a all around good and easy camera!

I would PERSONALLY say Canon. I prefer their lenses. Some time I plan to get the amazing canon MPE-65, which is the most spectacular macro lens. Nikon has nothing to compare. In usual terms though, they are both excellent camera, and They are nearly equivalent. Though, personally I'd give the edge to the Canon.
