I am looking for a digital camera that my mother can operate? She has had a stroke so simplicity is a must!?My mother suffered a stroke a few years back so a simple camera is a must! The less it takes to operate the better. She loves her new grandchildren and likes to take lots of pictures. i have provided her with digital frames and a computer. She is also not computer savy at all. She is learning but a camera will make her very happy.

Are you going to do all the computer work for her? Like transfer image files to specific file folders? Sort them for her and resize them so she can email them to the family and her friends?

Remember, the P&S camera is only one half the process in digital image making ... the other is preparing the images for either printing or posting on the web.

Canon PowerShot A580. It's under $ 150, and uses regular AA batteries. There's no manual modes, it just has simple auto mode. All she has to do is pop 2 AA batteries into the camera, put in a SD memory card, power up camera, and press the shutter button. The camera pretty much calculates exposure for you so there's no need to fiddle with controls. I recommend this also because it's easy to hold with its pronounced finger grip.
