Advice in selecting a digital camera. canon sd790 is or sony w170?So i am looking for a nice small camera. There is no price limit. Right now i am looking at the Sony w170 an canon sd790. The sony has a better zoom but the canon i more user-friendly with its contols and a bigger screen. Any input or owners review would be really helpful! thanks

Both cameras seem to be nice and competitive. It eventually comes to who do you like better sony or canon?
I like sony because they are cheaper, i think takes even better picture (esp macros), their batteries last for ever (400 shots!) and now that they have 5x zoom and brilliant on camera screen, it is hard to beat it esp when you consider the price as well. Again it comes to , are you a canon fan or a sony fan.
One advice if you end up buying sony, go for 24mon protection service as the lense might eventually go bad. It is hightly recommended.
One other option you may consider is size. W170 is not terribly small.

I have been researching about sd790 and came to know it has better image quality than any of its Sony competitors. Every thing about the camera (sd790) is perfect. Video quality, picture quality, built quality, and as you mentioned, really user friendly, specially with its rotating click wheel. You should check it out at amazon.com, best place I have found to buy it. You can try searching for sd790 reviews on google or youtube. Trust me, sd790 is the best camera in the market.
