Medium and Large format cameras?In terms of film cameras, not digital:
Is my understanding correct - that the main advantage of having a medium or large format camera is simply to produce larger images once printed? Are there any brands that specifically make large format cameras, or do they all make a variety?
And could anyone lead me to a website where I can read up on medium/large format cameras?

Large format cameras not only allow you to make large prints,the detail and tonal range a good lens can produce is stunning and has to be seen to be believed.I trained on plate cameras in the 1960s,their study can take many years.
One recent book is Medium and Large Format Photography by Roger Hicks and Frances Schultz.I picked one up recently in a remainders book shop it gives lots of information and is well worth finding.New cameras are rare and expensive but the book cover a lot of the old tricks for cannibalising,which has always been common practise.
