High School Graduate in need of Digital camera!?As a high school graduation present, I want a digital camera. I've been researching hundreds of digital cameras for several weeks now, and after visiting consumer reports (and about a dozen other review sites) I've ended back at square one.
I'm looking for a subcompact camera, that's easy to use, takes great pics with vivid color, durable, able to take pics in low light, and preferably has an image stablizer setting. I want to have basic options (ie: black/white, etc), but i don't need frills such as slideshow with mp3, etc.
I'm 18 years old, and basically just want a camera that will take great pics with my friends when we go out. I'm tired of the ignorant sales ppl at all the electronic stores attempting to sell me cameras with features i have no use for. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Casio Z75 is a great choice, nice and thin, lightweight, shoots photos and video with sound. Easy to use controls and a 2.5" screen to view.
If you're looking for digitasl SLR(real camera) try the Nikon packages that come with lenese.

the minimum Mega pixels you really need is 4megapixels. Be sure that the optics are great--I completely put all my trust in Nikon. I have a cool pix 3100, and its a small not-so-fancy 3 mega pixel camera that takes great pictures. I have made 4"x6" prints--from the photo places (like Target stores), and the pictures are BETTER that my Canon 35mm "professional" camera!!!!
As for the feature of image stabilization, that applies for moving videos, not necessarily still pics. BTW, my Nikon can be found on ebay for way less that $ 100!!!
Hope this helps. Best of luck to you and your bright future ahead!!!! Live life, prosper, and take lots of pictures--digital of course!!!!

I was doing the same thing. Checking consumer reports, etc., etc., ! I finally bought a used camera from a friend who got it on e-bay! If I was you, I would go to e-bay, look for the features you want-compact-max pixels-etc. for the least dollars. Limit it to only purchases in the United States, this way you won't have to worry about it being hung up in some airport! You will end up with a great camera for an inexpensive price and it will last you years and years! I use mine on job-sites and it takes a beating. For $ 50.00 I have far gotten my use / dollars ratio beat!!! And it takes awesome pictures!!! Best of luck!!!
