Is there a regular 'point-and-shoot' style digital camera that takes DSLR quality photos?

Is there a regular 'point-and-shoot' style digital camera that takes DSLR quality photos?I have been looking to upgrade my digital camera for a while, but I have no idea what I'm doing when looking for a camera. I've seen great pictures which have been taken with DSLR cameras. But I don't want to deal with the bulkiness of lenses and other additional equipment I might need. Is there a standard digital camera which takes DSLR quality photos? Please let me know. Thanks.
Wow...this has only been up for a day, and there is so much good feedback! This is more useful than a sales associate at a big box electronics store!! Keep it coming, everyone. Thank you so much!!

No, there isn't.
The big sensors and the big optics make a better result.
It would be so nice if the tiny little things could do a job as good as the big guys.

You might like to consider a bridge camera like the Canon Powershot SX20IS.

There are cameras called "bridge" cameras that are point-and-shoot cameras, but lets you choose manual settings.

There are some new camera systems out now called "Micro four-thirds" system that have "Simplicity of a point-and-shoot, quality of an SLR," like the olympus PEN
