Sony is making some quite decent SLRs, I have one myself and I'm very fond of it. If you pick a Sony, the advantage is, that the objectives are cheaper because some technology is build into the cam, rather than the objective.You can easily find one of those for £600 or less.

looking into a digital camera for photography?As her christmas present, I wanted to get her a good digital camera since her new hobby is photography, and since I know nothing about cameras I need a little help. I'm trying for a price range under 300$
Any ideas on brands I should consider or even actual models of a certain type?

If you think she's advanced enough to stick with photography as a hobby and possibly a vocation or even an avocation, I'd recommend the 8MP Panasonic DMC-FZ18, or it's successor, the 10MP DMC-FZ28. Both of the cameras (I have both of them), have a perfect 18x OPTICAL (not digital!!!) zoom Leica lens, with a very wide 28 and 27mm (respectively)zoom at the wide end, and a flash powerful enough to definitely illuminate a mid-to-large size room. Both are cameras that you can leave in a totally automatic mode, or you can go into what Panasonic calls "Intlligent Auto" mode, which does everything for you, to any number of scene modes in between, which should suit many different photography situations. Hope this helps!

I just bought an slr digital camera..an olympus e-520 I was wondering where online i can find information...?Where can i find information or tutorials on how to properly understand the settings of this camera. This camera came with 2 types of lenses, but since im new to slr cameras, i cant see the difference between the 2 of them. Does someone knows a place to go online and learn about the different settings of this camera? I bougth the Interactive DVD tutorial of this type of camera, but in my opinion it just tells you information but not in details...

It seems your camera usually comes with a 14-42mm and a 40-150mm lens. In general you will want to use the 12-42mm for landscapes, architecture. You will want to use the 40-150mm for things that are far away as well as most portraits (zoom to 50mm to 70mm) for most portraits if you have the space. You want enough distance so that your subject isn't distorted but close enough to keep them sharp as possible.

As far as tutorials there is a really nice book for beginners to DSLR photography by Steve Luck and Johgn Freeman called "The Illustrated Practical Guide to Digital and Classic Photograph". It's been on sale at Boarders for $ 9.99 for over a month now and it covers all the basics with lots of illustrations and pictures.

You may also want to try starting a membership (free) to flicker.com There are several groups dedicated to your camera and you can post on their bulletin boards to ask people questions. They all use your specific camera so they should be able to help you.

You are a little confused.

Red, Green and Blue are the colours of light that make coloured pictures

IR is an invisible light frequency and an IR filter cuts off all the other light frequencies but IR

You may be thinking of a polarizing filter to enhance colour in photographs

Hmm, i think you're confused a bit there. IR filters ( Infra-red ) take most o the light from the images, so, you'll end up with a reddish other worldly image. It could be a nice effect though. I think you're talking about Polarizers or color filters, they'll add different artistic notes to your photos. Only the polarizer with have effect on colored photographs, to use the colored ones, you're going to have to shoot in black and white:

The size of filter you get depends on the lens you're using, there's no all-in-one filter. Hope it all goes well.

Is the camera that I bought any good? It is made by digital concepts & only cost about at Walmart.?I'm thinking of taking it back as I don't think it has a flash. I don't know anything about digital cameras, but thought it might be fun to play with for that price. It says it is a 3 in 1 digital camera, shoot videos & web cam. It doesn't mention pixels, but has resolution VGA 640 X 480. It comes with a USB cable connector and CD Rom Software. If anyone has used one of these, I would like to know if it is a waste of money. I really don't need a digital camera bad enough to spend a lot of money. I just thought it would be fun to try. Is a flash needed to take digital pictures indoors?

NNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I bought that same camera not too long ago, and i took it to my cousins soccer game, and i "tried" to take pictures, but they were REALLY bad. return it before it's too late to. TRUST ME!!!! Good Luck!!

Probably not. A good digital camera is at least $ 200. I just bought a sony cyber-shot w200, and love it!

It's a waste of money. The resolution is too low to print bigger than 2"x3". There's no flash which you need to take photos in dim light. Pretty much, you'd be way better off with a disposable film camera, if money is that tight.

Canon Powershot sd1100- special scene selections?I've been looking into getting a new digital camera- Canon's Powershots have stood out the most to me. I have a question about the 1100 that I could use some help with- according to Canon's website (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=145&modelid=16347#ModelFeaturesAct , 3rd page after hitting Next) there are special scene selections like beach, aquarium, foliage, etc. When I looked at the camera at Circuit City and Best Buy, I didn't have that many options. All I could find were the options shown on this review: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2008_reviews/canon_sd1100_pg3.html .

When I asked the employees at both Best Buy and Circuit City, they said the sd1100 doesn't have scene selections. They even helped me attempt to find them. Any help from you guys?

And while we're at it, is the 870 worth the extra $ 50 over the 1100? I mostly take macro shots (handmade jewelry for my etsy shop) and just random photographs. Any input is appreciated!

I can't really help you with the SD1100, especially if the employees at Circuit City and Best Buy attempted to find the scene selections. I would think that it would be under the 'Manual' option, but I don't see it on the camera. But I do think that the SD870 is worth the extra $ 50. They're both the same megapixel wise but the SD870's screen is a 3" so it doesnt have a optical viewfinder, however it does have something unique about it and its the wide angle lense which allows you to put more landscaping or people in one photo instead of having to constantly back up. Also I know for sure that the SD870 has a scene selection with a touch turn wheel so you can scroll through the options you want. I hope this helped! :)

Is there any way that I can learn photography but no need to pay big bucks?I'm just a beginner...I'm interested in taking baby pictures since my baby was born. I only carry a regular simple canon digital camera, and I am thinking of getting a more professional one and learn how to use different lenses, photoshop, etc.. Is there any resources that I can learn more about photography? My budget is pretty tight...is there any affordable resources?

You should consider taking a class in photography. Check with your local high school or community college.

Just reading and studying your camera's Owner's Manual should help.

I think the best way is to go to the bookstore an pick a book that will teach you the basic principals and start shooting a lot! Practise makes perfect. Look into joining a site like trekearth.com You will learn from others and be able to have your work critiqued.

The best way that I can answer is to ask the local photographer if he is enroll in any community education classes (or if he teaches) - I know that the local photographer in my area teaches classes through the Community Education and he only charges $ 50. I am his assistant and because I help him on his weddings, and other events - there are things that he is showing me along the way (FREE). Maybe check to see if your local photographer could use an assistant....

Why? It will require you to increased your exposure by 1-1/3 stops.

You can do that using your WB in your digital camera. That is the beauty of digital cameras. NO colour correction filters are needed.

While one can always color edit in the computer, there is a certain thrill that comes from correcting color and adding effects on camera with filters that can't be found any other way. Photography is about creativity so experiement away .. the world is yours if you want it !

I have the Nikon D50 and it's great. It's considered an entry level digital SLR. It has a lot of cool features, but I can see why someone (if serious about photography) would want to spend $ $ on something like the D200. Features are awesome when you know what you're doing.

Kodak p712. i got mine off ebat for 160 and it is sold for 400 at stores. its a great beginnier slr. Not really an slr but really close. and u can get interchangable lenses with it. great camera. i suggest u look up some reviews and compare the cameras no matter what ur choice is

I don't know much about them personally, but a semi well-known professional art photographer told me a nikon d40 was a great choice. Camera's made my canon, or sony are comparable at the same level.

what is the best full size digital camera to buy?well, I'm not very beginner...I've been shooting great photos for about 3 years.But I was using a 3 mega-pixel digital camera, so I think it's time to invest in a new camera.

I want a camera with high Mega-pixels (12) and high optical zoom, and be able to add filters.( but I'm not so interested in portable lenses)

What's your recommendation?

whats the best camera lense for my fujifilm finepix s6000?i have a digital camera, the fujifilm finepix s6000, it is a really nice camera and i love it! it isnt an slr tho but i still want a lense for it. im not completely sure how to go about this.... heres the camera and a lot of good info on it.... if you could just help me get a good lense for it i would be happy!

Unfortunately the lens on your s6000 is fixed. Meaning there's no way to remove it in order to attach a different one. The only thing you could do is use secondary lenses that attach to the end of the barrel. But these tend to reduce the picture quality.

What camera will fit my digital pic-taking needs?So I'm looking to find a camera for my boyfriend's bday, and it has to live up to a few certian features listed below in no certian order:

1 - Quality enlargements (my bf wants to phots some things, blow them up to hang in our home, so whatever the average pro-photographer store would size to hang on your wall)

2 - Easy to get started, but as you learn the camera, the ability to customize things (flash, zoom, anything else I might be missing?) and edit photos

3 - Good features for different kinds of light/images (i.e. portrait vs. action vs. landscape options?)

4 - Anti-shake technology

5 - Ability to move the pics right from the camera, or off the SD card

6 - Problem free shutter: you know, you push down the button, it clicks and flashes like 4 seconds later? I definitely do not want that!

Additionally is there anything else I need to be mindful of when buying? IE if I have an HP computer, do I have to have matching brand camera? And what about the printer dock station? Can you have different brand of that from the camera?

I think they are still very useful. HDR's do not do the same thing, and they always give your picture that HDR quality which sometimes is cool but a lot of the time just ruins it.

I got a digital camera for christmas and was wondering........?If it could take a memory card. Its from digital concepts model 75379 and I was wondering if any one else has this camera. And knows any information on the camera memory card

It does not appear to have removeable memory capability. The ad I found for it indicates it can take up to 117 pictures. That indicates the memory is fixed and cannot be expanded which means it is internal memory. Sorry, no card on this camera. You will have to load the photos onto your computer from the camera and then delete them to take more pictures.

yeah, i saw the same, 117 pic. says it can be used as a web cam. it'll be a start for you though and get the rudiments. photography is a difficult subject but keep learning and asking questions. that's how you learn. down the road you'll have a DSLR and show em your stuff

Right now the least expensive DSLR is the Nikon D40(x). Ironically it supports some of the best lenses in the world

If you are a beginner do you think you want to go to a dslr? here is a second choice i will suggest. This camera has all the functions of a dslr but does not have the interchangable lens and it will cost you a whole heck less then dslr. Fujifilm finepix s9100, 9.0mp 10x zoom (28-300mm) has all the manual settings and takes video too. takes both xd and cf memory cards. I got this camera because i too wanted a dslr but i wanted to learn how to use a manual camera more and felt the dslr was just a little too exspensive at the time. this camera takes great pics...go to the following links i have included below and take a look...

fhotoace's recommendation is sound, the D40/x is a great little dSLR that takes fantastic pictures. Until you really start learning the more advanced stuff, just set it to program mode and forget it.

But you know, another point could be raised, based on your budget. If you were to say 'under $ 800', I'd suggest the Nikon D40/x or one of the other brands at a similar price-point. If you were to say 'I've got $ 5000 to burn', I could just as accurately answer your question by recommending the Nikon D2X (Nikon's top of the line) or a 1D-series from Canon... reason being that all dSLRs have a basic functionality that even a beginner can understand and apply. The more complex features of the higher-end models can be learned as you go along.

What I'm trying to say is, *any* dSLR is good for a beginner (as much as even the cheapest dSLR can be good for a pro), the best choice should really be determined by how much money you want to spend.

How do you know that the lens will fit on your digital camera?I currently have an s3 and want to purchase a 49mm CloseUp +10 / Macro Lens Filter.
How do I know which size filter to buy for my camera?
On the very front of the camera, it says 6.0-72.0mm...does that mean it could fit anywhere between 6-72mm size filter?

I can't say for sure...but I think 6mm to 72mm is your focal length.

The focal length does not have anything to do with your filter size.

You first need a Canon LAH-DC40 lens adapter to provide a 58mm thread to mount the filter on and then you can buy the close-up lens that you want.

PLEASE check with Canon or a dealer about the correct lens adapter number and configuration.

Easy way: Call the nearest dealer who sells your brand of camera and ask what filters will fit.

Hard way: Google for a review of your camera and scroll through the pages until you dig up something.

First question ... why do you need a driver?

Most cameras use memory cards and the cards can be read by the computer using a card reader either on the computer itself or on one you buy.

After looking at the camera on line, it is nothing more than a toy. You may want to consider getting a camera with 3x optical zoom, SD memory card and at least a 6mp sensor.

Please follow the step to update the new 561A driver.

1. Find your windows floder and find system32->drivers.
For example "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers", or "C:\Winnt\System32\Drivers".

2. Find the "spca561.sys" file in this floder, and rename it to "spca561.bak"

3. Copy the file, "spca561.sys", that you download from our site, into the
folder in step1.

4. Un-plug and re-plug your web camera. Then, you can enjoy your camera again.

UPDATE:
1. Unstable problem: We found that there is a unstable bug within previous
driver. The bug will make your system crash sometimes. We fix that in this
version.
2. Power issue: Use less power when suspend.

when you go into system32/drivers folder search for similar file if your doing an update. rename it to .bak

otherwise just install it into the system32/drivers folder

However, it is a very large digital camera and much too bulky for my lifestyle - I need something that I can slip into my purse, not a camera that requires its own purse. I know that as the size of the camera decreases, the zoom must also decrease to a point. Are there any slimmer, sleeker digital cameras on the market that will offer me close to the same features as the Cyber-shot?

I have a Casio Exilim EX-S500 and I love it. It is a 5 megapixel camera that take beautiful pictures. It also has a voice recorder, and video recorder with sound. I have a 2GB memory card in mine that allows me to take over 600 pictures or over an hour of video footage. It is very small *about a half inch thick* and it's a great camera!

I have been looking for a long time for the perfect digital camera. Having the zoom and the portability. Your not going to find both in one camera. I suppose I would find out what is the largest camera I could carry comfortably with the biggest zoom and go for that one.

This is a new breed of camera. The ultra compact, with the big zoom lens. Of course, you do compromise a bit on image quality to fit such zoom capability in such a small package- but, for most regular folks, the minute differences in image quality really don't matter, and it's more about capturing the moment. Certainly, a big zoom range can help.

Canon EOS 400D. Hands down.
Its got the beginner features you want, with the professional features of a higher quality DSLR, on top of that its cheap and it has a wide lens range.

Any of the entry level cameras from Canon, Nikon, Sony or Pentax will be fine. My opinion would be Canon or Nikon.
No SLR will have an auto option on the the zoom lens. Unless you are talking about auto focus. None of them will zoom with the touch of a button. Most will not have live view through the LCD screen either. You will have to compose your shot through the viewfinder.

Some models to look at would be

Canon Rebel XT, XTi or XSi

Nikon D40, D40x or D60

Can you change lenses on the Fujifilm Finepix HS10 Digital Camera?I know it isn't an SLR but it is cheap and nice also does anyone know if you can use filters on it as I like this camera a lot.

No. I own a Fuji "bridge" camera, a now discontinued model, the 9000 and it's just excellent for what it is. That means it's a point and shoot but Fuji has done great things with their "bridge" cameras.

It'll have all manual controls except manual focus. It may claim manual focus but it's electronic and doesn't really work very well.

But think about this, for another hundred or so you can have an SLR. You may want to look at the one I have.

There is a very basic model from Digital Concepts which has no flash. It is intended as an absolute entry level, introductory camera, even more entry level it seems than shooting after dark.

As far as i understand you are from States... So you need a converter to be able to plug them on the wall. In addition to this, make sure you check the volt not to burn your adapters.

European electrical service is 220 volts and the US has 110 volts. There is a huge difference in electrical service and configuration than you find here.
You need an adaptor which can be purchased in a lot of travel stores, such as a luggage shop. Wall Mart may have them as well since they sell at least one of every thing.
Don't go to Europe with out an electrical adaptor or you will regret it.

Look on your chargers, mostly there is a little note saying 100/240, if so, you can use a plug adaptor.
If your charger just mentions 100/120 you need a converter.

Stores that sell luggage, those that sell electronics and travel shops in airports sell adaptors and converters.
In emergencies, look at the 'shavers only' plugs. Often they allow for American plugs.

What digital SLR camera would you recommend to a beginner based on the following information?I am looking for a camera that takes multiple shots per second (not blurry), high quality for portraits/ low light settings, and is not too complicated. I bought my wife a Sony a300k for christmas, she absolutely loves it. For the price it has alot of high end features such as live view, tilt screen, and others. The biggest sell point is we can use minolta A mount lenses back to 1980's. Bought at Sears Outlet for $ 130. Deals there are highly YMMV but if you can find one they are so worth it.

I would suggest Canon EOS Rebel T1i 15.1 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3-Inch LCD and EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens

I think you should invest a DSLR camera. It is an investment but it can be well worth it. DSLR cameras have the larger sensor so you get a higher quality images. You can change lenses which can be valuable, by allowing to adjust to different needs.

There are a number of good brands so don't be sold on the idea one brand is better than another. I would keep your costs down. I would get a DSLR with a short zoom (like a 18-55mm) to start. No reason to spend more than $ 425 to $ 550. Either a 10MP or 12MP will do just fine.

Below, I listed some links, the first link listed below is to a web page that lists the 3 DSLR cameras I am recommending. This list will let you compare features and specs, also it has links to reviews of the cameras, the reviews include sample images from the cameras. Also I included some links to some dealers so that you can try and get the best price. Some dealers have some nice extras, free shipping is very common, and sometimes they are offering a free memory card and/or camera bag. Sometimes you have to click in the "add to cart" button to see the actual price.

Here are some models that I think are well worth researching:

Nikon D3000 10MP DSLR Digital Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens - $ 449
EOS Rebel XS (1000D) 10MP DSLR Digital Camera Kit w/18-55mm IS Lens - $ 499
Pentax K-x 12MP DSLR with 18-55mm Zoom (has HD Video also) - $ 550

Pick a price range, some features you know you want, and even consider which camera feels good in your hand as a factor. Plenty of great cameras, get one you like and start learning the principles of photography and you will be on your way to making some great images.

If you want to stay under $ 500 then go Nikon or Canon but, I think the Pentax could be of special interest, since it can do HD video and has excellent quality at higher ISO settings which can be useful in low light places and helping get the picture. These features, especially the HD video, on a Nikon or Canon will cost you $ 100 to $ 200 more.

Do any digital cameras go well below 100 ISO. I'd like to be able to take a time exposure (15 seconds?) in broad daylight with mechanically attaching a neutral density filter.

I don't know about any other cameras but my camera goes to ISO 80. It's the Sony Cybershot DSC-H2; and I try to keep it at 80 as much as possible.

I don't know right off, so I just chose a few likely suspects.

Pentax Optio A30 - ISO 64
Nikon Coolpix P5000 - ISO 64

Nikon Coolpix S10 - ISO 50
Nikon Coolpix L12 - ISO 50 - but it looks like it uses "auto" only to determine setting

There must be others. If I was choosing quality, I'd look at the Nikon P5000 first. That actually looks like a pretty decent camera.

I don't see ANY dSLR's going below ISO 100 and I think I caught them all. (dpreview.com)

The old Nikon Coolpix 8700 & 8800 point & shoot models had 50 ISO. Neither one had a lens thread but they did have an optional adapter tube for a filter thread. (both models provide 8 megapixels and good image quality.)
If you're looking for a dSLR, the Canon 5D and 1D models have 50 ISO.
Compared to any ordinary 100 ISO camera, that provides one extra stop. The right ND grad filter can provide 8 or 9 stops by itself... And you can stack filters.... Alternatively, you could do a time lapse and merge those pictures. (say, 3 to 10 shots over a 15 second period.)

on your camera, there are bottons there. press menu then look for a sign like a ligthning symbol.

I think I may know why you are asking this question!

Apparently there is a problem with this camera:
"...after you turn on the camera, you're limited to one flash photo, so use it wisely. Seriously, turn the flash on, take 1 picture, then the flash is disabled and you have to turn the camera off and on before you can take another flash picture. Never thought I'd have to reboot a camera. Save your money, or buy a good sketch pad instead." (see source below)

So, it would appear that the way you turn your flash "back" on - is to reboot your camera. If you want to force the flash - sorry I don't have this camera - you will need to look in the menu or on the camera body for a button that looks like a lightning bolt - or look in you manual.

Sorry, but you may have a lemon on your hands and you shouldn't hesitate returning this older camera or see if the manufacturer has a resolution.

Will I use a camcorder?I am considering buying a camcorder - specifically a Canon Elura 100. I do not have kids, which I think many who buy them, use it for. I love having a digital still camera, but don't know how much I would mess with a camcorder. I would hope to use it on vacations and car events in my Miata. I guess my question is, do you use yours for more than taking videos of your kids?

I don't have kids but i use mine all the time like doing stupid things with friends, spring brake, and my summer trips, and the best thing of all was the last day of school and we passed it around to every one it was the best!!!

If you do any kind of sports, camcorders are great. I snowboard and skateboard. I also use my camcorder for hikes and parties.

If you don't think you'll use a camcorder too much, just get a nice digital camera. I suggest a Canon SD700. It takes amazing 6 Mega Pixel photos. You can also take videos with it at 60fps!

By the way, I don't have kids, I am a kid. I use camcorders all the time. ; )

I agree with reilly. I'm a kid as well, and I have an SD700. It's a great camera because you can do videos with it as well, and if you're not a huge video person, its good for the occasional video if you dont want to buy a separate video camera. i have a camcorder as well, a canon gl2, and I use that mainly for making movies. I think a SD700 would be good enough for you, since you sound like your probably not going to do anything too big, but if you want a longer recording time and better quality, go with miniDV. Hope this helps!

I have a Nikon D40x, which is a 10 MP SLR which was about $ 800 for the body and a single lens at the time I got it. It is very easy to use, but extra lenses are pricey.

if you have to get slr get the best canon you can afford. but there are loads better cameras which aren't slr. i used film slrs for ages, and they are great, but i think the technology is a little obsolete unless you are a pro. people like ricoh and leic (even panasonic) do really high end compact cameras with amazing lenses that dont suffer the really annoying problem of a digital slr: that no matter how clean you are, you always get really nasty big spots on your sensor. seriously, check ricoh, leic an panasonic before you spend top dollar on an slr. (and if you get slr, get canon, as good quality as nikon but cheaper)

if you are a beginner or intermediate, i would recommend the best cannon rebel SLR that you can get under $ 1000. they are very easy to use. you dont need any extra lenses right off the bat, and you'll be really impressed with the quality of the photos.

they are availible in funny sizes for video cameras, sizes like 37.5mm and 27mm i remeber from when i sold cameras 10 years ago,

so if your camera has a thread on the front of the lens and its a size you can buy ND's in then the answer is yes

Regular filters can work on some P&S cameras. I use a few 52mm filters on my Canon PowerShot SX20 IS.

i have a digital concept camera but dont have any type of software and dont no were the serial # is?i have no idea what i am doin...someone gave this camera to my sister and we took pictures and now tryin to upload the pictures...we dont know wat to do...i have no idea where the serial number is or model number or anything like that...and we dont have a cd to upload the pics...can someone please help???

i would say go to ebay.com and search for one that looks similar to the one that you have. you can email the seller and ask them about it. they should be happy to give you info. most digital cameras that i have seen, have a usb connector usually located on the side or back of the camera to connect it to a pc by using a usb cable that can be purchased if it did not come with the camera. if the camera uses an external memory card, such as sd, micro sd, or xd picture card, then you will not need any software. you can just buy a card reader and connect it to a usb port on your pc and insert the card into the reader slot. if the pc does not upload the pictures, there are free programs that you can download such as adobe photo.

making videos 4 youtube?i had this thing on my account that said i could make a vid from bits & pieces of other videos, seein as how i don't have a digital camera/ camcorder or wutever it is that u need 2 upload stuff. well, i don't kno how, but somehow i think i deleted the thing that told me how to make videos using parts of other 1's & a few of my own. so know i have absolutely no way to make slideshows or anything (cuz i wanted 2 make 1 of Steve Perry, Rick Allen, Jerry Lewis, Def Leppard, Journey, Hermione & Ron & so forth), so i would really really appreciate it if sum1 would tell me how to do that. i would be 4ever grateful!! Get windows movie maker and all your troubles will be solved from there. just search it on google, and download it. Also it might help if you have a scanner. ( one might be on your printer )

use windows movie maker (included in your windows machine)... it can help you make beautiful slideshow or video clip(e.g. mixing your songs with pictures/video/lyric/etc).... then save it as video file such as wmv file format... finally upload.

or .. Just get those clips you want , save & convert them, and then mix/match with pix/sound/etc using windows movie maker to create new masterpieces....

this will help you.... Use 'zillatube'. This is the easiest (and also the fastest) way.

Zillatube produces mpg/mp3 formats from youtube that are compatible with windows movie maker(or media player), and more.

It is very easy to download and convert videos. Then edit those converted mp3/mpg videos with windows movie maker... save your file as wmv and then upload.

It works very well....just google search for "zillatube"

What Digital Camera is best?I was thinking about getting a new hobby. Make-up & Photography have always had my attention, but now I want to try to make this into a new hobby. I'm thinking bout signing up for a make-up class & learn some photography techniques. Which digital camera do you think is best to get me started with great quality pictures at an affordable price?

The Nikon D60 has proven to me to be a fantastic beginner's DSLR, while it can hardly be labeled a beginner's camera since it is more than capable of running with the higher models. It does, however, lack some of the features that give the more expensive brands their appeal, and high price tag.

For what you get with this model; high quality photographs, durability, small and lightweight body; the price is unbeatable. The difference in quality from the D60 and the higher level DSLRs can only be seen if you have already mastered the techniques of digital photography, and are looking for the next step. I would not recommend a newcomer to DSLR photography puchasing anything much higher than the D60 to start with, otherwise you may be wasting money that could be put towards a more powerful lens.

The D60 has proven it's durability to me in the field, as I have dropped it on the ground and worst of all, fell into a stream with it around my neck in Yosemite National Park. I dried it off and it was like new. Excellent quality.

Depends on how much you want to spend...but go with something with high megapixels, also go with something with an interchangable lens, because in most cases the manufacturers lens is crap and you want to put your own lens on it. Also get a flash, it will make you pictures look professional (not talking about the flash that comes with the camera..its ugly).

IMO..Nikon has better lenses and better quality images...but Canon Cameras are better (when you spend over $ 3000). So if you don't have $ 3000+ to spend on a camera then get a Nikon.

If you want to seriously take up photography as a hobby you will want to have an SLR (single lens reflex) camera. These are fully adjustable cameras with removable and interchangeable lenses. Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sony and Olympus all make very good entry level models in the $ 500 range with a lens. I suggest you go down to a good camera store and play around with the various models. Then choose the one that you are most comfortable with. With SLR's you are buying into a system of lenses and accessories that are not interchangeable between brands so you should do a little research into what lenses and accessories you will want in the future. In this respect Canon and Nikon have the most available lenses and accessories.

Some entry level cameras to look at would be the following

Canon Rebel XS or XSi and the Nikon D40 or D60.

Audio settings on digital camera for recording at heavy and loud concerts?I recently went to a pretty heavy concert and wanted to use my digital camera to record some songs on video. I soon after noticed that there was alot of distortion in the video audio.
I was just wondering what my audio settings should be at.
Should the Mic level be Auto or Manual?
Should the Wind Filter be on?
How high or low should the Level be?
The concerts are bands that I am friends with, and have their full permission to take videos.

P&S digital cameras video feature is just a marketing tool, so the microphones have no dynamic range when compared with the least expensive hand held microphone. While their microphones have some automatic attenuation, they cannot handle sounds over 90-95 dB without clipping.

Perhaps the larger issue is the fact you are trying to record copyrighted music. You may have noticed that here is a notice on the ticket that disallows any recording of the performance.

Mic level should be at manual. When you do this, the mic gain should appear on the viewfinder or LCD screen of the camcorder. the volume level should NEVER peak all the time - best to be around 3/4 so the audio does not clip and get muddy.

Since you did not tell us which camera you are using, we have no way to know how you select or set this in your camera. Most DSCs and consumer camcorders do not have manual audio control... The least expensive camcorder - of which I am aware - with manual audio control are the Canon HV20/HV30/HV40 and the Sony HDR-HC9.

Wind filter on only if it is outdoors and windy... or if the camera/camcorder is in the path of an air conditioning duct outlet - in which case, it would be better to move... or use some sort of physical wind-noise reduction device like one of the Rykote windjammer devices.

I would recommend the Canon G10.

It allows you to shoot in RAW but also has settings you will find on DSLR cameras.

You can shoot in Shutter Priority where it will allow you to adjust shutter speeds as needed.
It also has Aperture Priority which will allow you to control the aperture.
Finally, it has full manual which give you complete control.

Another feature I really like is that it has a hot-shoe mount so you can attach Canon flash guns to it (like the 430 EX).

It also gives you the full auto "point and shoot" options on top of the more advanced ones if you need them.

What you need to check out is the Megapixels, the lens' functions, zoom (both optical and digital), the camera size and also your budget.

The see through camera did came from Sony when the camera operating in night vision, but after they realized it, they had all their camera called back and repair. So i don't think it's what you think u can buy it now...

You can go to Walmart or Best Buy and find what you need. You will probably want to get her a 512 or a 1 gig card. This will allow her to store hundreds of photos. The memory card should cost around 20-25 dollars but they are reusable and indestructable. Check the camera instructions to see what type of card she needs.

You might not need to get a card. All digital cameras come with some internal memory for storage. It's usually not much though. A card will allow her to store hundreds or even thousands of pictures.

Radioshack, Walgreen's, Target, Walmart and the like will all carry a variety of memory cards. They come in different sizes and speeds. For a child's camera a small one will probably be fine. Be sure to show your daughter how to transfer the pics to the computer and how to reproduce them either at home or at a photo processing place. Most stores today let you upload the photos from home and come pick them up later.

Make sure you get her the right kind of memory card. The owners manual will tell you if it uses SD, SDH, etc. Or just bring it too an electronics store, and they'll look at it for you, and show you the kind of card you need. Take it to Best Buy, Circuit City or Fry's. The people at wal-mart usually don't know anything about cameras-they'll have to get the manager just to show them the right page on the instruction booklet lol!

What is a great camera for digital photography?I would love to get the Canon Digital Rebel, but it's out of my price range.

I need something that has great focus, mininum noise, great macro, and under $ 400.
I've been doing digital photography for over a year now, and my HP camera is slowly losing it's quality.

I highly recommend Canon...They have a great reputation and a variety of lenses....especially when you buy the larger body type and not the point and shoot type.

I am pretty sure soft focus gives a picture an airbrushed look, and that partial color is something between normal color photography, and black and white, which gives pictures an sort of aged or faded look, the rest I could guess at, but that wouldn't be very useful, and I don't know about examples off the top of my head.
