Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG10 Angle of View Differences: Detailed Menu vs. Simple Menu

Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG10 Angle of View Differences: Detailed Menu vs. Simple Menu

Just today I noticed a difference in the angle of view between the Detailed Menu setting and the Simple Menu setting on my Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG10 video camera. The angle of view is wider in the Simple Menu setting than the Detailed Menu setting. Why these settings affect the camera in such a way is beyond me. In the Simple Menu, the angle of view is wider, but fewer settings are manually adjustable; in the Detailed Menu, the angle of view is not as wide, but all camera settings are fully adjustable. I shot this video with a Sakar Digital Optics Universal 0.5x Wide Angle Clip-On Lens attached to the camera.

Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG10 Video Camera w/ 0.5x Clip-On Wide Angle Lens Test (Simple Menu Mode)

While messing with my camera's settings I found out that the Xacti has a much wider angle of view when set to "Simple Menu" mode in comparison to when the camera is set to "Detailed Menu" mode. This video also further demonstrates the camera's angle of view when equipped with a Sakar Digital Optics Universal 0.5x Wide Angle Clip-On Lens.
